Adelmo is the inventor and co-inventor of nine US patents and applications, author and co-author of more than 15 peer-review publications, and a current peer reviewer for the Journal of Food Chemistry. He earned his B.Sc. in Biology from the University Central of Venezuela, an M.Sc., Ph.D. in Food and Cereal Chemistry, and a post-doctoral in Biosystem Engineering from Washington State University.
